There he meets Jordan Mooney (Elisabeth Shue), a young and pretty, up and coming American artist on vacation with her girlfriend from New York, staying at the Island resort. Jordan and Brian spend some quality time together and fall in love. But when Brian takes a dare from his old buddy, Doug Coughlin to sleep with an older woman, who is also staying at the resort. Jordan, herself the daughter of wealthy parents back in New York, leaves the Island overnight, after seeing Brian and the older woman together after closing... College tells the same threadbare story as a dozen other movies about wide-eyed newcomers arriving at a college campus and finding an institution of higher learning to be a focal point of debauchery. Drake Bell (of TV's Drake & Josh) stars as Kevin, a cautious high school senior who gets dumped by his girlfriend for being boring. Determined to be a free spirit, Kevin pays a pre-enrollment weekend visit to a university with his best friends, the uptight Morris (Kevin Covais) and licentious Carter (Andrew Caldwell). The trio are soon absorbed into the black hole of an obnoxious fraternity and subjected to ritual hazing of a nauseating order. Things go from bad to worse when Kevin becomes attracted to a sorority girl (Haley Bennett) targeted by a frat leader for seduction. A kind of war breaks out between the newbies and their frat tormentors, forcing Kevin, Morris, and Carter to face up to their internal conflicts and fight back against a common enemy. College might have the semblance of a narrative, but it's really the same old grab-bag of youthful depravity, with the bar raised pretty high in a couple of sordid scenes. There's a strong influence here of Superbad (Bell, Covais, and Caldwell's characters are essentially the latter film's Evan, Seth, and McLovin in personality and style). But unlike Superbad's persuasive humanity, College is merely trying to temper outrageousness with faux sensitivity. It doesn't work, and the film feels like it goes on forever. --Tom Keogh

College Road Trip

Choosing a college and striking out on one's own is an exciting time that requires a big adjustment by both child and parent, but few parents will have as much difficulty relinquishing control over their daughter's life as Chicago police chief James Porter (Martin Lawrence). The ultimate in loving but overprotective fathers, James wants his daughter Melanie (Raven-Symoné) to attend nearby Northwestern College, so when she's waitlisted and called for an interview at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., James gets more than a little nervous. Squashing her plans for a road trip to D.C. with her girlfriends, James insists on a father-daughter expedition which he envisions being full of reminiscing, heart-to-heart conversations, and a healthy dose of persuasive promotion of Northwestern. The car trip definitely doesn't turn out as planned--instead it’s a trip rife with strained silences and festering conflict in which the police vehicle rolls down a wooded embankment, Melanie's little brother (Eshaya Draper) and pet pig stow away in the back of the truck, and the Porters inexplicably keep running into a syrupy sweet father (Donny Osmond) and college-bound-daughter (Molly Ephraim) whose close relationship, clean-cut enthusiasm, and willingness to befriend and help the Porters is downright unsettling. Absurdly funny scenes include the family pig crashing and demolishing a fancy outdoor wedding; James' party-loving mother (Arnetia Walker) scrambling to live up to her son's uptight image of her as a fragile, elderly woman; James breaking into a local sorority house and hiding under a bed in hopes of protecting Melanie's innocence, and James' and Melanie's unexpected skydive into Washington, D.C., in order to keep Melanie's interview appointment at Georgetown. In the end, James and Melanie both mature as a result of their road trip and are finally able to forge an emotionally healthy relationship with one another. (Ages 8 and older) "--Tami Horiuchi"

Lambeau Fields lives a middle-class lifestyle in America along with his wife, Barb, and a gorgeous daughter, Michelle, who he has brought up as a son. Lambeau is a failure and has virtually given up on his career as a football coach. Then his friend, Freddie Wiseman, encourages him to re-enter this field, and he does so by re-locating to Plainfolk in Texas and joins the Heartland State University. It is here he will meet some of the most pathetic players, and quite disillusioned he goes about to find new-comers. He finds a kicker in Jasminder Featherfoot, provided of course, he keeps her involvement secret from the rest of her family. Then he finds Lance Truman, whose drag queen dad has brought him up more like a tom-girl. With these additions and others Lambeau sets forth to include his team in the next Super...Er...Toilet Bowl 2 series, and it is here that he will find that Lance fumbles a lot; Barb is not quite faithful as she seems; he will soon be in jail for Indecent Exposure; Michelle has a black boyfriend; and Freddie has a hidden agenda.

Waiting in the wings is a sensitive outsider, who everyone immediately knows is the one who will float her boat.
